Job summary
Askern Medical Practice is seeking a committed and enthusiastic Salaried GP to join our clinical team on a fixed-term contract until 31 March 2027.
We are offering 4 sessions per week, with a salary of £40,000 per annum (pro rata).
The role includes one fixed full day at Askern Medical Practice on a Thursday, with the remaining 2 sessions to be discussed with the successful candidate.

We hold regular team meetings including MDT, SEA and educational sessions.
Main duties of the job
- Provide safe, effective and patient-centred clinical care.
- Undertake routine GP consultations and clinical assessments.
- Manage the on-call message board on Thursdays.
- Review and action pathology results and pathology links.
- Complete clinical administration and patient follow-up.
- Process prescriptions and Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) tasks.
- Maintain accurate and timely patient records.
- Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary practice team.
- Participate in clinical governance and professional development.
- Support the delivery of safe and effective primary care services.
Job description
- In accordance with the Practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make him/her-self available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone / video consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion
- Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation
- Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems
- Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness
- In consultation with patients and in line with current Practice disease management protocols, developing care plans for health
- Providing counselling and health education
- Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate
- Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards
- Collecting data for audit purposes
- Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible)
- Prescribing in accordance with the ICB/Practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate
- In general the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.
About us
Our premises are modern, and purpose built. Our team consists of GPs, Physician Assistant, Practice Nurses, HCAs and other associated staff. We use SystmOne, Ardrens and Accurx software. We are a well-established practice for over 13,500 patients over four sites and our list size is growing year on year.
Through our PCN membership we have had opportunity to work collaboratively across our Network area. We have had opportunity to work alongside a number of ARRS roles including Pharmacy Team, Physiotherapist, Primary Care Mental Health team, as well as a Social Prescribers. We have a very supportive and enthusiastic Management team, excellent Patient Services and Admin support staff.
