Privacy policy
Last updated: 18 August 2026. This explains what personal data boroughjobs collects, why, and your rights over it.
Who we are
boroughjobs.co.uk is currently run on a pre-trading basis; our registered company details will be published here once trading begins. For any privacy query in the meantime, contact [email protected].
What we collect, and why
Job alert sign-ups: your email address and the search terms you save (keyword, area, category), so we can send you a digest of new matching jobs. We only start emailing you once you've confirmed via the link we send — signing up alone doesn't add you to anything. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every alert email.
Posting a job or an advert: your contact email, company/organisation name, and any logo or banner image you upload, so we can publish your listing and, if needed, follow up about it. Payment is processed entirely by Stripe — we never see or store your card details.
Ad requests specifically: we review your submitted advert before any payment is taken, so your contact details and creative are also used to assess whether it's suitable to publish.
Basic security: we briefly use IP addresses to prevent abuse (e.g. rate-limiting repeated submissions) — this is not used to build a profile of you or track you across visits.
Local storage, not tracking cookies: we store a small marker in your browser's local storage so the welcome banner (if one is running) doesn't show more than once a day. This isn't shared with any third party and isn't used to track you elsewhere.
Who we share data with
We use a small number of third-party services to run the site: Stripe (payment processing), our email provider (sending alert and confirmation emails), Cloudflare (security and content delivery), postcodes.io (looking up which area a postcode or town belongs to — the postcode/place text you search is sent to their API), and DigitalOcean (server hosting). We don't sell personal data to anyone.
How long we keep it
Job alert sign-ups are kept until you unsubscribe. Job/advert postings and their associated contact details are kept for our own records and for the duration the listing is live, plus a reasonable period afterwards for accounting purposes.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you, or object to how it's used. Email [email protected] and we'll respond as required by law. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) if you believe we've mishandled your data.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time; the "last updated" date above will change accordingly.
