Salary from £36,513 to £41,565 per annum inclusive with potential to progress to £44,468 pa inclusive of London allowance

This is initially a full-time fixed term appointment for three years, with further extension subject to funding.

LSE Sociology is seeking a dedicated and professional Research Coordinator to support the Department’s research administration and the Sociology MPhil/PhD programme.

Working under the direction of the Department Research Manager, the post-holder will assist with the coordination of research activities, strategic initiatives and formal research assessment exercises. They will help promote a vibrant research culture, support funding-related activity, administer academic visitor and research staffing processes, and contribute to the successful delivery of seminars, conferences and other research events. A substantial part of the role will involve providing comprehensive administrative support for the Sociology MPhil/PhD programme, including admissions, programme delivery, examinations and assessments, communications, records, student support, events, facilities and liaison with the PhD Academy.

The successful candidate will bring excellent administrative and organisational skills, strong attention to detail and the ability to work accurately across competing priorities. They will have experience of administration in Higher Education, with confidence in communicating professionally with staff, students and external contacts. They will be proactive, flexible and collaborative, with the judgement to use initiative, follow procedures consistently and refer issues appropriately.
