We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic Property Surveyor within the Asset and Property Management team.
The focus of this post is to play a key role in the
- Management and development of the Council’s commercial portfolio to contribute to the aims and objectives of our Commercial Asset Strategy, in terms of maximising income, acquiring new investments, generating capital receipts and growing the local economy.
- Providing property advice and contributing to the delivery of the Corporate Asset Strategy, working with public, private and community organisations to achieve joint solutions on projects, including the rationalisation, disposal and acquisition of land and property assets
We are looking for
- MRICS qualified
- Experience in dealing with a mixed commercial property portfolio
- A team player with experience of working with internal and external partners
- Experience of carrying out capital and other valuations
City of York Council have a diverse property portfolio, which provides an annual income in excess of £7m and includes assets such as The Shambles, business centres, retail and industrial property.

We offer flexible working, both home and office based, and 25 days holiday (rising to 30 days after 5 years).

Hybrid working arrangements are available for this role. Each role at CYC is different and your working arrangements will be determined based on the requirements of the role and in collaboration with you and your needs as part of the recruitment process. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team.
