LSE’s Data and Technology Services division provides services to over 10,000 staff and student users.

The Research HPC Support Engineer plays a crucial role in supporting and enhancing high-performance computing (HPC) and research-focused infrastructure at LSE. This role is responsible for the design, development, maintenance and optimisation of research-focused computing hardware infrastructure, including HPC clusters, GPU acceleration, networking and data storage solutions. The post-holder will work closely with researchers, technical teams and external stakeholders to deliver robust and scalable HPC solutions. This role ensures that researchers at LSE have access to cutting-edge, high-performance computing resources to facilitate computational research and AI applications

Candidates should have:

• Strong technical expertise in high-performance computing (HPC) and GPU systems.
• Proven experience administering, configuring, and optimising HPC clusters and GPU systems (e.g. Slurm, OpenPBS, K8).
• Hands-on experience with open-source software build and installation frameworks specifically designed for High-Performance Computing (HPC) environments, such as Spack and Easybuild.
• Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Perl, Bash, Ansible) and knowledge of DevOps development best practices.
