An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and dynamic pharmacist to join Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust as a Clinical Pharmacy Team Leader.

This senior role will provide professional leadership and work closely with pharmacy, medical, nursing, operational and corporate colleagues to support safe, effective medicines optimisation for patients.

You will lead a team of advanced clinical pharmacists and be supported by clinical pharmacy technicians and medicines optimisation assistants, to provide the best possible care to our patients.

You will work alongside our clinical lead pharmacists in Emergency Medicine, Education & Training, Medicines Governance and other specialities to drive forward the pharmacy service and implement new innovative ways of working.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will be a visible pharmacy leader and role model with the accountability and responsibility for the provision and development of safe and cost-effective pharmacy services to the medical specialities.

Lead a team of highly skilled pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and other pharmacy staff working to deliver outstanding pharmacy services.

Support the further develop of the clinical pharmacy workforce including the role of Medicines Management Technicians and Medicines Optimisation Assistants.

Develop a strategic plan for the operational delivery of clinical pharmacy services to the medical specialities, supporting a positive patient experience, medicines optimisation, and continuous improvement.

LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT

Provide leadership and strategic direction for Trust-wide clinical pharmacy, fostering a culture of continuous learning and ensuring that the service aligns with organisational and national priorities and makes a real difference to patient care.

Act as a positive role model and guide colleagues from across pharmacy and the wider team in developing professional values through supervision, encouragement, motivation and support.

Show resilience and determination when managing situations that are unfamiliar, complex or unpredictable to deliver positive outcomes at a team and service level.

CLINICAL

L Lead and develop the clinical pharmacy service in the specialist areas in line with departmental and patient needs, to ensure the delivery of a high quality, patient centred and effective clinical pharmacy service.

Contribute to the multidisciplinary identification, review and development and ratification of treatment guidelines and policies in the specialist area, to promote safe and evidence-based patient care.

Contribute effectively to patient care as part of the multidisciplinary team, by attending ward rounds or other appropriate meetings, to make pro-active interventions in individual patients therapy.

EDUCATION & TRAINING

Contribute to the management and delivery of education and training aspects of pharmacy services and medicines optimisation in the Trust, in association with the Lead Pharmacist for Education & Training.

RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT

Contribute to research within the pharmacy department. This includes identifying areas of research, including identifying gaps in evidence, applying appropriate methods to address identified gaps and generating new evidence.

Share good practice by publications and presentations within the Trust, throughout the local health economy and nationally.

PROFESSIONAL

Participate in late night, weekend, Bank Holiday and on call rota duties.
