Job summary

As an IUC General Practitioner within the National Homeworking Clinical Team, you will deliver safe, effective clinical assessment and diagnosis through telephone, email and online video consultations. You will provide timely advice, treatment decisions and onward referrals for patients requiring enhanced clinical assessment. Working within Practice Plus Group IUCs Clinical Assessment Service, you will support a 24/7 service that works alongside NHS 111 and Out of Hours services, helping patients access the most appropriate care without unnecessary repeat assessments. You will function autonomously within your scope of practice while collaborating closely with a multi-disciplinary team to deliver evidence-based care, support fellow clinicians and ensure patients receive the right care at the right time. Prescribing responsibilities form part of the role where appropriate. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in urgent care while contributing to service quality, clinical excellence and the development of effective models of care delivery. This is a fully remote role with an opportunity to support every part of our service as a specialist clinician to assist with the changing demand across the UK. Main duties of the job

Deliver telephone, email and video consultations, assessing patients and determining appropriate treatment, self-care advice, discharge or referral pathways.   Monitor clinical triage queues and assess cases escalated by Service Advisors, Health Advisors and Clinical Advisors.   Manage a wide range of presentations, including adult and paediatric assessments, medication queries and emergency contraception advice.   Provide clinical guidance and support to multidisciplinary colleagues across the urgent care service.   Navigate appropriate patients to home visiting, district nursing and other community, primary or secondary care services.   Manage prescribing requests using electronic prescribing systems and approved formularies.   Maintain accurate, contemporaneous clinical records and ensure compliance with protocols, policies and GMC standards.   Participate in clinical governance, supervision, appraisal, training and continuous professional development activities.   Contribute to safe, efficient service delivery, resource utilisation and real-time operational support within the clinical hub.

About us

Current GMC registration, a vocational training certificate or certificate of equivalence, and inclusion on a Medical Performers List.   Full membership of a recognised medical indemnity organisation and current Hepatitis B immunity certification.   Extensive experience in telephone assessment, triage, home visiting and face-to-face primary care consultations.   Up-to-date knowledge of modern primary care delivery, particularly within urgent and out-of-hours settings.   Excellent communication, listening and record-keeping skills, with a professional and empathetic approach.   Strong ability to work autonomously, manage a demanding workload and make sound clinical decisions under pressure.   A collaborative, flexible and patient-focused approach, with a commitment to clinical excellence, confidentiality and continuous learning.   Please see the Job Description attached to the vacancy for more information.  Successful applications will be contacted by their relevant recruiter.
