Job summary
Sheffield Teaching Hospitals currently has an opening for a Linen Services Assistant Manager in the Laundry at the Northern General Hospital in Sheffield. As an aspiring or experienced leader with a background in managing staff in a target driven production environment the Assistant Manager role represents a real opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to one of the country's most cherished institutions. The post requires dedication and commitment to the service and ultimately the patients in the Sheffield and surrounding areas.
Successful candidates will need to be proactive and agile in their approach to managing the day to day demands as no two days are alike. The staff within the Laundry are expected to meet hourly production targets as well as being comfortable handling used, hospital linen, with some vaccinations required for this part of the process. As the Assistant Manager there would be an expectation of leading by example when needed.
The Laundry is a semi-automated facility including high volume processing equipment in addition to more labour-intensive manual operations. Full training is provided for all aspects of the laundry equipment and software systems and personal development is actively encouraged through our excellent Learning and Development department.

Main duties of the job
Organising Supervisors and Linen Assistants to complete the linen requirements of the Trust and its external contracts on a daily basis
Fully support staff attendance in line with Trust policies and procedures
Fully realise production goals and efficiencies through close monitoring of production targets
Maintain quality and cleanliness standards in line with HTM 0104 and EN14065
Assist in the upkeep of the ISO 9001 Management System
Liaise with and co-ordinate maintenance activities with the maintenance team to ensure up-time of equipment is maximised
Champion a culture of good health and safety practices and continuous improvement initiatives
Ensure training and development targets are adhered to and maintain annual appraisals in line with Trust requirements
Support and develop team members to enable fulfilment of career potential
Utilise Trust IT applications to capture wages, holidays and production data for analysis and record keeping
