Job summary

The West London Children's Healthcare Clinical Education Team is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, experienced and motivated senior paediatric nurse with a strong background in general paediatric nursing care and a passion for education and practice development.

The post holder will be responsible for supporting and delivering clinical education across Great Western Ward, a 20-24-bedded general paediatric ward, Westway Day Surgery Unit and paediatric outpatient departments.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting the professional development of paediatric nursing staff, promoting clinical excellence and ensuring that practice remains current, evidence-based and aligned with regulatory, professional and organisational standards.

The successful candidate will have significant clinical experience within paediatrics, with a strong interest and experience in general paediatric and Child and Adolescent Mental Health care. They will demonstrate effective clinical leadership, excellent communication and teaching skills, and the ability to inspire and support staff in developing their confidence and competence in practice.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced paediatric nurse ready to progress into a Band 7 clinical education role, contributing to the development of the paediatric workforce, quality improvement and the delivery of safe, effective and compassionate care for children, young people and their families.

Main duties of the job

• To support the implementation of a West London Children's Healthcare wide nursing education strategy that links to the workforce strategy and the divisional strategic plan.
• To be an expert practitioner, demonstrating advanced communication and nursing skills, using expert knowledge and decision making skills in children's nursing.
• To provide excellent visible clinical leadership and develop support mechanisms for sharing good practice across children's services.
• Support the paediatric senior team when involved with capability or performance management to ensure that they are able to undertake their role in regular education and assessment of that staff member.
• To be flexible in the approach to the clinical area and provide cover for any area specified within your clinical competence.
• The post holder will be expected to work a minimum of 20% in a direct clinical capacity to maintain competency. They will also be expected to work clinically alongside nursing staff supporting their learning needs as identified.
• Work strategically and operationally with the divisional team in ensuring that clinical policies, procedures, guidelines and educational programmes meet the needs of the division.
