Phlebotomist (BANK)GP Practice

We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Phlebotomist to join our healthcare team on a bank (as-needed) basis. In this vital role, you will be responsible for collecting blood samples from patients with precision and care, ensuring the highest standards of safety, hygiene, and patient comfort. Your expertise will support diagnostic testing and patient care across various clinical settings, contributing to accurate diagnoses and effective treatment plans. Responsibilities

• Perform blood draws using proper venipuncture techniques, ensuring minimal discomfort for patients.
• Verify patient identity and accurately label specimens in accordance with laboratory protocols.
• Maintain strict adherence to aseptic techniques to prevent contamination and ensure sample integrity.
• Assist with specimen collection from pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients, demonstrating sensitivity to diverse needs.
• Follow all safety procedures related to infection control, handling of sharps, and specimen transportation.
• Maintain detailed records of procedures performed, including patient information and sample details.
• Support laboratory staff by preparing specimens for analysis and managing specimen storage as required.

Experience

• Prior hospital experience or clinical setting exposure is highly preferred.
• Proven proficiency in phlebotomy techniques with demonstrated ability to draw blood efficiently and safely.
• Strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology relevant to vascular access and blood collection.
• Familiarity with medical terminology, laboratory procedures, and aseptic techniques.
• Experience with catheterization procedures is advantageous but not mandatory.
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or equivalent is required or will be supported for certification upon hire.
• Experience working with pediatric patients is a plus, demonstrating patience and excellent communication skills.
