Job summary

The Research Nurse / Clinical Studies Officer is a key member of the Research Team, supporting the delivery of NIHR Portfolio and commercial research studies across Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership Trust. The role involves facilitating the safe, effective and compliant conduct of research, working collaboratively with patients, clinical teams and study partners to promote participation in research and contribute to the generation of high-quality evidence that improves patient care and services. The post holder supports research activities across a range of specialties, including mental health, dementia, learning disabilities and children's services, ensuring studies are delivered in accordance with regulatory, ethical and governance requirements.

Main duties of the job

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Research Team and contribute to the delivery of research that makes a real difference to patient care. The post holder will work with a wide range of patients, service users, clinicians and external partners to support research studies from set-up through to completion. The role is central to ensuring that people have opportunities to participate in research and that studies are delivered to a high standard, helping to generate evidence that improves services and outcomes across the Trust.

Job description

The post holder will be a key member of the Research Team, supporting the delivery of a diverse portfolio of research studies across Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust. Working across a range of specialties, including mental health, dementia, learning disabilities and children's services, they will contribute to the successful delivery of research that improves patient care, service development and clinical practice.

Working closely with patients, service users, carers, clinical teams and external partners, the post holder will help facilitate research activity across the Trust and promote opportunities for participation in research. They will act as an advocate for research, supporting the Trust's commitment to providing access to high-quality research.

The role requires the ability to develop positive working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including clinicians, academics, study sponsors and Regional Research Delivery Network colleagues. The post holder will be expected to work both independently and collaboratively, demonstrating excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills to support the effective delivery of research studies and achievement of agreed objectives.

The post holder will contribute to all stages of the research pathway, ensuring that studies are delivered in accordance with approved protocols, regulatory requirements, Good Clinical Practice and Trust policies. They will maintain a focus on participant safety, experience and wellbeing while supporting the collection of high-quality research data and the successful delivery of study outcomes.

As a valued member of the Research Team, the post holder will contribute to the continued growth and development of research across the organisation. They will support the sharing of knowledge and best practice, contribute to service improvement initiatives and help embed a positive culture of research and evidence-based practice throughout the Trust.

The post holder will be expected to manage a varied workload, prioritise competing demands and exercise sound professional judgement within their level of responsibility. They will uphold the highest standards of professionalism, confidentiality and research governance at all times, acting as an ambassador for research within the Trust and the wider healthcare community.
