Referral Processing Officer (Maternity Cover)
Join Our Front Door Team and Help Safeguard Children in Newport
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Referral Processing Officer to join our busy and dedicated Safeguarding Hub on a fixed-term maternity cover contract.
The Safeguarding Hub is the first point of contact for referrals relating to children and families. Working alongside social care professionals and partner agencies, you will play a vital role in ensuring information is received, recorded and processed efficiently, helping to identify support needs and safeguarding concerns at the earliest opportunity.
As a Referral Processing Officer, you will provide a professional and responsive service, ensuring referrals and information are accurately recorded and shared in line with procedures.
Key responsibilities include:
• Providing a professional first response to callers and gathering relevant information.
• Receiving and processing referrals using the WCCIS recording system.
• Liaising with internal teams and partner agencies to obtain and process information.
• Supporting the collection and recording of performance information.
• Arranging meetings, taking minutes and supporting team activities.
• Maintaining accurate systems, records and statutory checks.
• Providing a high standard of administrative support within a fast-paced environment.
We're looking for someone who is organised, reliable and able to handle sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.
You will have:
• 5 GCSEs (A-C) including English and Maths, NVQ Level 2, or equivalent experience.
• Previous administrative experience within an office environment
• Strong IT skills, including experience using Word, Excel, email and databases.
• Experience of inputting information into electronic recording systems.
• Excellent communication and customer care skills.
• The ability to organise, prioritise and work effectively under pressure.
• A commitment to confidentiality, teamwork and delivering high-quality support services.
• Welsh language skills are welcomed but not essential.
