Woodside Medical Centre is looking for a motivated, compassionate and enthusiastic Practice Nurse to join our friendly and supportive primary care team.

We are an established GMS GP practice in Tile Hill, Coventry, caring for a patient population of over 9,700. We are looking for a nurse who is passionate about delivering high-quality, patient-centred care and who wants to develop their skills within general practice. We are happy to consider full-time or part-time hours and welcome applications from experienced Practice Nurses as well as Registered Nurses looking to develop their career in primary care.

Job description

What will you be doing?

Working as part of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide a broad range of nursing services to our patients. Your duties will be tailored to your experience, competencies and training and may include:

• Routine nursing assessments and patient reviews.
• Long-term condition management, including diabetes, COPD and asthma
• Wound and ulcer care
• Cervical screening/cytology.
• Routine, childhood and travel vaccinations and immunisations.
• Contraception and family planning.
• Health promotion and well-person clinics.
• Blood pressure monitoring, ECGs and urinalysis.
• Taking appropriate clinical specimens, including swabs.
• Peak flow measurement
• Nebulising where appropriately trained.
• NHS health Checks.
• Minor illness assessment and management within your scope of practice.
• Supporting GPs with minor surgery and coil fittings.
• Supporting travel health assessments and providing appropriate health advice.
• Recognising and responding appropriately to safeguarding concerns.
• Maintaining accurate and contemporaneous clinical records.
• Participating in clinical audit, quality improvement and service development.
• Working collaboratively with GPs, nurses, healthcare assistants and the wider practice team.

There may also be opportunities or a requirement to undertake home visits, depending on service needs.

An Opportunity for Advanced Nurse Practitioners

For candidates who are already working in, or developing towards, an Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) role, we are keen to support your continued professional development.

Alongside your Practice Nurse responsibilities, there may be opportunities to undertake care home ward rounds and acute illness clinics, allowing you to utilise and further develop your advanced clinical assessment and decision-making skills within a supportive primary care environment.

We are open to discussing how the role can be structured around your existing competencies, interests and career aspirations, with the aim of developing a role that makes best use of your skills while supporting the wider needs of our patients and practice.
