Job summary

The Lead Nurse for Clinical Site Management provides visible, credible and compassionate leadership for the Clinical Site Management and Hospital at Night services. The post holder is responsible for the professional and operational leadership of the site management function, ensuring the safe, effective and efficient management of hospital operations on a 24-hour basis. This includes oversight of patient flow, capacity management, discharge coordination, staffing escalation, operational pressures and site safety.

Successful applicants will be required to provide an immunisation and vaccination report, from either their current UK occupational health provider or their UK GP.

Main duties of the job

• Leading the operational management of patient flow, capacity and bed utilisation across the organisation, ensuring timely admissions, transfers and discharges while maintaining patient safety and experience.
• Supporting the delivery of urgent and emergency care performance standards through effective site coordination, escalation management and proactive operational planning.
• Providing expert nursing and operational advice during periods of increased demand, operational pressure, major incidents and business continuity events. [
• Leading workforce management processes including recruitment, appraisal, performance management, workforce planning, succession planning and professional development for Clinical Site Management and Hospital at Night staff.
• Promoting and delivering high standards of patient safety, quality assurance, risk management and clinical governance, ensuring lessons learned are embedded into practice.
• Working in partnership with senior clinical and operational leaders to deliver organisational objectives, improve patient outcomes and support hospital operational resilience.
• Acting as a professional role model and ambassador for nursing, upholding the standards of the NMC Code and promoting the Trust's values in all aspects of leadership and decision-making.
• Deputising for the Associate Director of Operations as required, representing the service at corporate meetings, operational forums and multidisciplinary groups.

Job description

• Proactively and positively contribute to the successful overall performance of the Trust.
• Proactively, meaningfully, and consistently demonstrate the Trust Values in everyday practice, decision making, and interactions with patients and colleagues.
• To be an ambassador for the nursing profession within and external to the trust and to uphold the NMC professional practice standards outlined in the Code.
• To take a lead in the management of specific nursing functions for Clinical site and Hospital at Night
• Become proficient in UHCWi methodology, commissioning and leading quality improvement and instilling a discipline of daily management and standard work.
• Undertake one site shift per month to include weekend work, as required.
• Represent Clinical Site at events providing expert knowledge and advice.
• The Lead Nurse will champion the standards of Pathway to Excellence
