Job summary
We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and flexible Care Navigator/Administrator for 15-20 hours per week. The successful applicant would ideally have previous GP Receptionist/Dispenser experience but previous experience dealing with the general public in a customer service role would also be advantageous. General practice is a challenging environment and the post holder requires confidence, and a calm and caring approach, with the ability to work under pressure in a busy environment.
Main duties of the job
The Receptionist/Dispenser role plays a pivotal role in the experience of patients at our practice, which includes helping patients face to face, on the telephone and via text and email to access the right services and deal with their enquiries.
The post holder must have very good IT skills for this role and the ability to multi-task, work as part of a team, and autonomously. Use of Microsoft Office products is required to enable support administratively with scanning, work flow documents, emails and office duties.
The job would commence immediately (or after a notice period) with full training given for all aspects of the role.
Some flexibility is required, as you will sometimes need to work additional or alternative hours to cover for colleagues.
Job description
The role includes working within a busy reception area assisting patients with appointments face to face, or by telephone, dealing with queries from external agencies, as well as administrative duties. Church Walk Surgery develops and builds a multi skilled team, therefore all roles are adaptable.
You will receive training so you can be a flexible member of the team to enable the practice to function at all times, particularly in times of staff absence.
Receptionist duties/skills:
- Excellent customer service skills
- Good working knowledge of Word, email, internet etc
- Flexibility & enthusiasm for the job
- Booking appointments face to face and via telephone
- Dealing with patient prescription requests and queries
- Liaising with other community service providers such as hospitals, other GPs
- Handling requests from patients and GPs or local pharmacy enquiries
Administration:
- Scanning and read coding
- Organising referrals for secondary care specialities
- Reviewing notes/notes summarising
- Registering new patients
- Ringing patients to book appointments for appropriate clinics

We are a small, friendly practice team situated in the beautiful village of Metheringham. The practice is part of a Primary Care Network that includes six other practices. We have just under 6000 patients.
