Job summary
The main role in Gynaecology Outpatients as a staff nurse includes chaperoning patients whilst being an advocate for them and providing them with support and information. You will be required to assist the clinicians with procedures including Colposcopy, hysteroscopy, minor ops, cancer pathway, routine Gynaecology and Urogynaecology.
Main duties of the job
- Chaperoning patients whilst being an advocate and providing information
- Preparation of clinical areas to enable clinics to run effectivelywith all necessary equipment.
- As a team leader you will be responsible for overseeing all the clinics, supporting healthcare assistants and ensuring efficient running of clinical activity.
- Support with daily and weekly checks of equipment, ensuring they are completed and documented.
- Supporting and training new starters and Students.
- Take charge of the Department in the absence of the Sister
- Communicating clearly and effectively with the whole MDT
- Administer medications including injections
- Be able to answer patient queries and escalate concerns appropriately
- Collaborative team working whilst being able to use your own initiative
- Ability to work within established procedures and guidelines
- Ability to work within a changing and demanding environment
- Clear, accurate and written documentation for record keeping of samples
- Be able to safely handle and process tissue samples
- High level of diplomacy and non judgemental attitude
- Be able to multi task and adapt to the demands of the service
Job description
