Job summary

This is an important role in supporting the effective and efficient operation of the R&D Office through the timely provision of complex research governance advice and services for primary care, community care and wider health and care settings, and in service of NIHR East of England Research Delivery Network and related contractual obligations. The role-holder will be expected to have significant specialist research governance expertise in at least one of primary care, community or residential settings, and to be able to operate effectively across all three domains.

They will support robust feasibility, timely set-up and delivery of research studies within the nationally agreed benchmarks, ensuring that the portfolio of studies are prioritised in accordance with feasibility, capacity and capability and are set up accordingly, proactively supporting performance management of studies through regular reporting. As a specialist in one or more of the relevant delivery settings, they will provide specialised and complex study oversight and management, also signposting researchers and delivery sites to relevant guidance and support at the appropriate time for both commercial and non-commercial research.

Research project set-up and conduct, including assessment of capacity and capability for research studies and amendments.

Generating research governance reports to provide assurance for social care/non-NHS providers in community and/or residential settings.

Advising organisations on suitability of researcher pre-engagement HR checks and where applicable supporting researchers in obtaining honorary research contracts, letters of access and research passports.

Advising on regulatory and legal requirements for research across settings.

Supporting project costing and securing excess treatment costs.

Collaborating with system colleagues and researchers to support a strong portfolio of research across relevant Integrated Care Systems.

Line and/or project management of junior R&D staff or secondees as required.
