As Lecturer in Archaeology and Heritage, you will contribute to the teaching of archaeology and heritage in the School of Historical Studies. You will join the team of the Carena Institute of Sustainable Archaeologies. Teaching responsibilities include contributions to the BA Archaeology, BA Ancient History and Archaeology, as well as MA Archaeology & Heritage, and postgraduate research supervision.

The successful candidate will bring an active research practice in archaeology and heritage studies which is critically and theoretically informed. They will be able to participate actively in curriculum development, the supervision of doctoral students, and help shape the intellectual life of our vibrant academic community.

Core responsibilities will initially include programme/module administration, teaching, supervision, assessment, and student support. Teaching will include providing core training in archaeological skills for undergraduates, and development of new modules for BA and MA programmes. With a PhD in Archaeology or Heritage, you will also contribute to the School of Historical Studies’ research culture, and to the intellectual and cultural life of the institution and its various communities and partners. We particularly welcome applicants whose research focusses on approaches that are equitable, inclusive, community-centred and eco-conscious.

Contract:

This role is offered on a fixed-term basis.

This is a full-time role, working 35 hours per week, to include evening teaching (usually 6-9pm).

Salary and benefits:

Grade 7 of the College's London Pay Scale which is £44,247 rising to £60,858 per annum.

The salary quoted is on the College's London Pay Scale which includes a consolidated Weighting/Allowance which applies only to staff whose normal contractual place of work is in the London area.
