Job summary

The Fire Safety Advisor (Band 6) plays a key role in supporting the Trust's fire safety management system and ensuring compliance with statutory, regulatory and NHS fire safety requirements. The postholder provides specialist operational advice, undertakes fire risk assessments, supports fire safety training, and contributes to the implementation of the Trust's Fire Safety Strategy.

Working Trust-wide across clinical and non-clinical services, the role promotes a positive fire safety culture, supports safe evacuation arrangements, and assists the Senior Fire Safety Manager in delivering fire safety programmes and continuous improvement initiatives.

The postholder will be expected to uphold the Trust's values and The North London Way, working collaboratively within a complex matrix environment to ensure safe, compliant and effective fire safety arrangements.

Main duties of the job

  • Support delivery of the Trust's Fire Safety Strategy and compliance with statutory requirements including the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and Building Safety Act.
  • Conduct fire risk assessments under supervision and monitor completion of associated actions.
  • Provide operational fire safety advice to clinical and non-clinical teams.
  • Support fire drills, evacuation exercises and scenario-based training.
  • Assist with fire incident investigations and dissemination of learning.
  • Maintain accurate fire safety documentation including risk assessments, action plans, training records, drill reports and statutory compliance evidence.
  • Support fire safety training delivery, including induction, refresher sessions and guidance for Fire Wardens.
  • Input and maintain fire safety data in digital compliance systems and produce basic dashboards/reports.
  • Contribute to policy development, audits, benchmarking and evaluation of new fire safety technologies.

  • Provide operational fire safety advice to staff across clinical and nonclinical areas, supporting safe evacuation arrangements and local fire safety practices.
  • Assist with fire incident investigations, ensuring lessons learned are captured and shared across relevant teams
