About Camden

At London Borough of Camden, we’re building somewhere everyone can thrive. We want Camden to be a place where everyone has the opportunity to succeed and where our communities feel proud of the spaces they live, work and visit.

About the role

As a Compliance and Reporting Officer, you will provide critical support to Council services around purchasing and receipting processes, resolving complex queries across financial systems and producing reports. Working closely with the Compliance and Reporting Manager, you will prepare statutory reports and analyse performance data to identify trends, suggest service improvements, and utilise benchmarking data from other authorities to improve delivery. You'll play a key supporting role in transactional financial year-end processes and proactively advise management of any significant failures in control procedures. This role requires you to take responsibility for remedial actions when standard policies are disputed, making it a challenging but deeply rewarding opportunity to directly influence organizational efficiency and safeguard resources.

About you

We are looking for someone with a solid knowledge of income and payment processes, ideally within a large organisation. You have strong analytical skills and high attention to detail, with the unique ability to convert raw data and findings into persuasive, evidence-based arguments that influence management decisions. You are an excellent communicator who can build effective relationships across finance and non-finance teams, update policies or user guides, and confidently use your own judgment to resolve issues with minimal supervision.

Working for Camden

We’re ready to welcome your ideas, your views, and your rebellious spirit. Help us redefine how we’re supporting our communities, and we’ll redefine what a career can be. If that sounds good to you, we’d love to talk.

At Camden, you’ll receive a host of benefits as well as joining a flexible working employer. Click HEREto see full details of our benefits.

Additional information

This is a hybrid post and will require the post holder to work from the office 3 days a week.

The application process:

Complete a short application via our job portal – please ensure you also answer the below questions and include in your supporting statement at the top. If you do not answer these questions your application will not be considered. We want to give everyone the same chance to showcase their relevant skills and experience so please clearly answer these two questions, in order:

Can you provide an example of an occasion where you had to use your own judgment to resolve a complex purchasing or financial system query where standard procedures were unclear or disputed?

Describe a time when you analysed financial or performance data, identified a trend or discrepancy, and used your findings to recommend a successful process or control improvement.

To apply for this job please follow the "Apply" link. In the ‘Why you?’ section of the application you will be required to demonstrate how you meet the role criteria noted in the Job Profile under the “About You” section.

Inclusion and Belonging

At Camden, we want every colleague to feel they belong and can thrive. We welcome applications from all parts of our community, and particularly encourage people from Black, Asian and Other Ethnic Heritage communities, LGBTQ+ people, disabled and neurodiverse people, survivors of domestic abuse, and those from lower socio-economic backgrounds or with care experience. We know that different voices and perspectives make us stronger, and we are committed to providing the support, adjustments and flexibility people need to succeed. Click here for more information on our commitment.

Asking for Adjustments

At Camden, we are committed to making our recruitment process barrier-free and accessible for everyone. If you need us to do something differently during the application, interview or assessment process, just let us know and we will support you. This could include providing information in an alternative format, extra time in assessments, or adjustments for disabled, neurodiverse or long-term health conditions.

Please contact us on 020 7974 6655, at [email protected] or by post to 5 Pancras Square, London, N1C 4AG. We’ll work with you to make sure the process works for you.
