Housing Solutions Assessment OfficerCouncil

Colwyn Bay £33,673 - £37,563 per annum (G06)
Posted 12 September 2026 Closing date 23 September 2026

Work base: Coed Pella, Colwyn Bay

Do you want to make a difference to households in housing need? We are looking for an extremely motivated individual to join our team of Housing Solutions Officers to prevent and relieve homelessness in Conwy.

You will be the frontline professional delivering a first class, modern and flexible service to some of the most vulnerable people in the County. You will fulfil the council's statutory housing and homelessness assessment and decision making function, with particular focus on preventing homelessness.

We are looking for someone with housing knowledge, especially the Housing (Wales) Act 2014, plus an understanding of the importance of homelessness prevention. Previous experience is welcomed and we are looking for candidates that demonstrate an understanding of the varying needs of households when assessing and determining the statutory duties involved with homeless applications. You will also have an ability to understand complex, fast paced situations and interpret legislation.

This is an exciting time to be joining the Housing Solutions service in Conwy. We are currently moving forward with our Rapid Rehousing Transition Plan, aiming to make homelessness rare, brief and unrepeated in the County. We are seeking highly motivated and enthusiastic individuals who want to get the very best outcomes for residents of the County. You will be joining a busy and hardworking team during a time of transformational change where every day offers an opportunity to make a positive difference.

Within the team you will feel supported by your committed and highly motivated colleagues. There is also a dedicated team of experienced, supportive and readily available managers. The management support will be available through regular formal supervision and informal daily check-ins.

You will have the opportunity of working flexibly from both home and the state of the art ‘Coed Pella’ office in Colwyn Bay, which allows you to be in contact with partner departments including Social Care, Youth Justice, Education, Youth Services and many others. We promote and understand the importance of a positive and healthy work life balance and can offer a range of flexible working solutions.

You will benefit from a substantial rewards package, which includes a Local Government Pension Scheme, minimum of 26 days annual leave (depending on previous Local Authority service), Occupational Sick Pay and staff benefits including salary sacrifice cars, Cycle to Work, cashback healthcare, discounts plus much more.

This role offers flexible working options for a work life balance. This can include adjusting your working day and hybrid working, ie a balance of office and home working.
