GP with Specialist Interest/Extended Role in DermatologyNHS

Job summary

The GPwER/GPwSI will provide specialist dermatology assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management within community clinics. Working autonomously and alongside Consultant Dermatologists, the post holder will deliver patient-centred care, support NHS pathways, and contribute to service development.

Main duties of the job

• Conduct specialist dermatology outpatient clinics.
• Assess, diagnose, and manage a broad range of dermatological conditions.
• Triage and manage referrals in line with agreed clinical pathways.
• Perform dermatology procedures within competence, including skin biopsies, cryotherapy, curettage, and minor surgery where appropriately trained.
• Recognise and manage suspected skin cancers through appropriate referral pathways.
• Maintain accurate clinical records and correspondence.
• Participate in audit, clinical governance, and quality improvement activities.
• Work collaboratively with Consultants, GPs, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality patient care.

Essential Requirements

• Full GMC registration with licence to practise.
• Accredited by the British Association of Dermatologists (BAD) as a GP with a Special Interest (GPwSI/GPwSP) and/or a General Practitioner with an Extended Role (GPwER) in Dermatology.
• Inclusion on the GP Register.
• Evidence of extended role training, specialist interest, or significant experience in Dermatology.
• Ability to independently assess and manage dermatology patients.
• Excellent communication, clinical decision-making, and organisational skills.
• Commitment to clinical governance and patient-centred care.
