Job summary

We seek to appoint an enthusiastic, self-motivated professional to a fixed term role in the Health Protection Strategic Team in CTMUHB. Through targeted project work and wider co-ordination of existing workstreams you can make a real difference to the people living in Merthyr Tydfil. You will be working in the CTMUHB health protection team and supported by the Merthyr Environmental Health team.

Areas of work are varied and will include:

  • Addressing health inequalities in health protection response
  • Pandemic Planning
  • National elimination programmes for blood borne virus and tuberculosis
  • Immunisations and screening support
  • Sexual Health
  • Environmental health threats
  • Delivery of training in health protection to staff and volunteers

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will support the implementation and delivery of the Health Protection Framework outcomes for Merthyr Tydfil. You will work on health protection programmes and response in a range of different settings and target groups in line with local priorities, building a resilient health protection system and a healthier, happier population. Based from Kier Hardie University Health Park and the local authority offices, travel will be required within Merthyr & CTM, flexible working supported.

This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable.Whilst the candidate doesn't need to have skills in Welsh, we'll consider it an advantage when short-listing and selecting candidates. This isn't 'fluency', just Speaking & Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above. Level 3 means being able to communicate in Welsh during routine clinical situations, such as welcoming patients, discussing straightforward aspects of their care and answering routine questions. If you're comfortable holding everyday conversations in Welsh, we encourage you to apply.
