Job summary

There has been an exciting opportunity for a full time specialist occupational therapist to join the Humber teaching NHS foundation trust inpatient service based at Millview Court treatment ward.

This is a 5 to 6 development post, and will be subject to a probationary period for new staff. We welcome applications from Band 5 OTs with the potential to progress to Band 6 through a preceptorship and competency-based development programme.

Millview Court is a 15 bedded mixed-sex ward, based in Cottingham, and provides 24 hour care to adults experiencing a crisis in their mental health.

We are looking for a motivated, compassionate individual, the successful candidate will be required to have the specialist level of experience, knowledge, and clinical skills to conduct evidence-based OT Assessments and Treatment plans to promote the service user's occupational identity and performance skills to enable their recovery.

The successful applicant will work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team, provide clinical supervision to coordinate and develop the therapeutic activities offered across the service, as well as being a part of the OT inpatient Hub supporting and promoting positive changes across the services.

The Model of Human Occupation (MOHO) and relevant assessments and outcome measures are used to frame and guide clinical practice, therefore the successfully applicant would benefit from having previous knowledge and experience of the model and assessment tools.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide specialist Occupational Therapy input into Millview Court.
  • Service Development and Leadership, Lead on OT input within the team, contribute to service improvement initiatives, and support implementation of Trust and national policies.
  • Training and Education, Plan and deliver specialist training sessions for staff and students, and support professional development across the team.
  • Clinical Governance and Research. Participate in audits, quality improvement projects, and contribute to research within the OTspeciality.
  • Documentation and IT skills:, Maintain accurate patients records and demonstrate proficiency in digital systems, adhering to confidentiality and data protection standard.
  • To collaborate with the Multi-disciplinary Team to promote service-users recovery, health, and wellbeing.
  • To provide evidence-based Occupational Therapy assessments, develop intervention plans and provide outcome measures to identified service users to promote their recovery, independence and community living skills.
  • To coordinate, develop and provide clinical supervision to promote the development of therapeutic activities offered across the service.
  • To work with the internal and external agencies to develop networks to support service users in the service toreengage back in the community.
  • To be part of the inpatient OT Hub to continue to progress and develop the OT provision.
