About the role

As Associate Professor in Business Analytics and Operations (Teaching Focused) within the School of Marketing and Strategy, you will provide educational leadership, mobilise expertise in pedagogy, and deliver research-led teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Your teaching may encompass business analytics and data-informed decision-making and/or operations/supply chain management. You will use innovative approaches to make specialist knowledge engaging and accessible, while leading high-quality teaching, assessment and feedback.

You will help shape and enhance programmes, ensuring curricula are inclusive, respond to contemporary business challenges, and develop the key skills of students. Working collaboratively across ULSB and the wider University, you will contribute to quality assurance, student support, employability and engagement with industry. You will develop pedagogical or disciplinary scholarship, represent the University externally, and lead educational initiatives that enhance teaching quality, the student experience and student outcomes.

About you

You will have a completed PhD in a relevant subject and expertise in business analytics and/or operations/supply chain management, that complements the School’s existing strengths. You will bring substantial experience of successful undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, together with a strong record of curriculum development, programme delivery and innovative educational practice, with evidence of positive impact on the student learning experience and outcomes. You will have evidence of engagement in pedagogical or disciplinary research and scholarship, experience of supervising and supporting students, and engagement with external quality assurance, academic networks and relevant external partners. As an effective educational leader, you will be able to lead substantial teaching, programme or curriculum initiatives and demonstrate their impact, while supporting and developing colleagues. You will also be able to translate applied, business-facing expertise into engaging and accessible learning.

You will have excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills, alongside the ability to collaborate across disciplines, manage competing priorities, contribute to the wider academic work of the School and University, and support students through teaching, mentoring and pastoral care.

Senior Fellowship of Advance HE, or an equivalent accredited teaching qualification, would be desirable. Where this is not already held, you will be expected to work towards the appropriate qualification following appointment. Experience of distance learning and supporting students through Blackboard would also be advantageous.
