Job summary
Are you passionate about making a real difference to the lives of children and young people with learning disabilities and/or autism? We are looking for a creative, enthusiastic and motivated Activity Co-ordinator to join our team on Jade Ward.
Jade is an inpatient service supporting children and young people with learning disabilities and/or autism. This is an exciting opportunity to provide meaningful, engaging and age-appropriate activities that support patients' development, wellbeing, confidence, independence and individual goals.
Main duties of the job
- Plan and deliver meaningful, creative and age-appropriate activities for children and young people with learning disabilities and/or autism.
- Work closely with the ward team and senior Activity Co-ordinators to ensure activities are individualised and support each patient's goals.
- Encourage and support patients to participate in activities that promote confidence, wellbeing, independence and social interaction.
- Use excellent communication and engagement skills to build positive relationships and support patients to achieve.
- Develop, adapt and evaluate activities to meet individual needs, interests and abilities.
- Support patients to develop new skills and access meaningful occupation both on and off the ward where appropriate.
- Work with other teams and external organisations to create varied and interesting opportunities for patients.
- Use IT systems to support activity planning, delivery and record keeping, and develop resources for the ward.
- Contribute to risk management and identify and report any concerns relating to patient safety or wellbeing.
- Work as part of the wider ward team, contributing to a positive, safe and supportive environment.
- Work flexibly across the service, including evenings and weekends where required.
Job description
Working closely with the ward team and Activity Co-ordinators, you will plan and deliver a varied programme of activities based around each patient's interests, abilities and needs. You will help create opportunities for patients to learn new skills, build confidence, develop relationships and experience success in a safe and supportive environment.
