Job summary
The Digital E-Learning Developer is a specialist role within Group Digital Services, responsible for designing, developing and maintaining high-quality digital learning solutions to support the adoption of digital systems across the UHL Group. Working within the Clinical Leadership (CxIO) and Digital Pharmacy portfolios, the postholder will play a key role in delivering innovative and user-centred learning resources that enable staff to effectively use systems such as Electronic Patient Records (EPR) and associated technologies.
The role contributes to the delivery of a modern, digitally enabled workforce aligned to the Group Strategy, supporting the ambition to create a digitally confident workforce and improve patient outcomes through effective training and capability development. Education and training are central to achieving this ambition, including the development of simulation-based and digital learning approaches to support workforce transformation and lifelong learning.
Main duties of the job
Create engaging, accessible and high-quality e-learning content that supports clinical and operational workflows, ensuring staff are equipped to adopt new digital systems. This supports the Digital Learning and Development function which delivers blended learning, simulation and digital literacy campaigns across the Group.
Apply user-centred design principles to ensure learning solutions meet workforce needs and improve usability, accessibility and engagement. Digital services must be designed around user needs to drive adoption and deliver measurable outcomes in workforce capability and service improvement.
Embed learning solutions within programme delivery, including EPR and Digital Pharmacy initiatives, ensuring training aligns with implementation timelines and change management activity. Training should support structured programme delivery through defined needs analysis, course development and continuous improvement processes.
Support a culture of continuous improvement by evaluating learning effectiveness, incorporating feedback and utilising data to refine training approaches. This aligns to national expectations for iterative development, testing and improvement of digital services and products.
Job description
Design and develop digital learning content including e-learning modules, videos and interactive resources
Work with subject matter experts to translate clinical and system requirements into effective training materials
Support delivery of training for digital systems including EPR and Digital Pharmacy solutions
Apply user-centred design principles to ensure training meets workforce needs and accessibility standards
Evaluate training effectiveness and refine learning materials based on user feedback and performance data
Contribute to digital literacy initiatives and workforce capability programmes
Support implementation of digital training strategies across the UHL Group
Maintain and update existing digital learning content in line with system or process changes
Ensure compliance with clinical safety, governance and information standards in all training materials
Collaborate with programme teams to ensure alignment of training with project timelines and objectives
Ensure all digital learning content supports safe clinical practice and complies with relevant governance frameworks
Align training materials to system workflows and clinical safety standards including EPR implementations
Contribute to safe adoption of digital systems through effective training design and validation
Develop engaging and effective e-learning modules using standard development tools and platforms
Support blended learning approaches including simulation, classroom and digital delivery
Evaluate and continuously improve training programmes based on feedback and performance data
Ensure training supports high standards of data quality and digital system usage
Promote accurate and consistent data entry through effective training design
Maintain quality assurance of digital learning materials and associated documentation
