The Care Group Support Manager is responsible for leading operational performance, supporting service improvement, managing budgets and resources, and working alongside clinicians, senior nurses, and managers to deliver high-quality, efficient healthcare services. It is a varied and influential role that combines leadership, problem-solving, data-driven decision-making, and people management to help ensure patients receive the best possible care. Main duties of the job

The Care Group Support Manager, plays a key role in ensuring clinical services operate effectively. Responsibilities will include:

• Leading operational performance across the Care Group, ensuring services meet quality, activity, performance, and financial targets.
• Managing day-to-day service operations, resolving issues quickly and supporting clinicians and senior leaders to maintain smooth service delivery.
• Monitoring and analysing performance data, identifying risks, trends, and opportunities for improvement, and implementing solutions to achieve targets.
• Working collaboratively with Consultants, Matrons, Clinical Directors, Finance, HR, and Performance teams to develop services and improve patient outcomes.
• Supporting financial management, including budget monitoring, cost improvement programmes, business case development, and ensuring value for money.
• Leading and supporting projects and service improvement initiatives, helping to introduce new ways of working and enhance patient experience.
• Ensuring effective governance and compliance, including contributing to audits, investigations, policy development, and performance management processes.
• Managing and developing staff, overseeing recruitment, attendance management, appraisals, training, and supporting high-performing administrative teams.
• Representing the Care Group at internal and external meetings, building strong relationships with stakeholders and contributing to strategic decision-making

Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust is an integrated Trust and the only provider of NHS acute care in Walsall, serving a population of 284,300, providing inpatient and outpatient services at the Manor Hospital as well as a wide range of services in the community. Walsall Manor houses the full range of district general hospital services under one roof. The £170 million development was completed in 2010 and the continued upgrading of existing areas ensures the Trust now has a state-of-the-art Critical Care Unit, Neonatal Unit, Obstetric Theatre, and Integrated Assessment Unit facilities.

A new Urgent Emergency Care Centre was opened in March 2023. The two-storey development has significantly improved emergency care facilities and capacity and has provided almost 5,000 square metres of additional clinical space.
