Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for 2 full-time Medical Secretaries to join the Sleep Service within our busy Respiratory Medicine department.
We are seeking enthusiastic, organised and proactive individuals with previous experience in a secretarial role. The successful candidates will provide comprehensive administrative and secretarial support within a fast-paced clinical environment, ensuring high standards of patient care and efficient service delivery.
Essential requirements:
*Previous experience in a secretarial role
*Audio typing experience
*GCSE English and Maths (Grade C/4 or above)
*Good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
*Excellent communication and organisational skills
*Ability to work independently and prioritise workloads effectively
*Proactive approach with strong attention to detail
Desirable:
*Understanding of patient pathways and waiting list management within an NHS setting

Main duties of the job
To type clinic letters and reports from audio dictation & produce accurate correspondence in a timely manner
To book, reschedule and cancel appointments/clinics.
To monitor waiting lists & clinic capacity;
To maintain & track results of patient investigations and on receipt, prioritise & action according to clinical need with guidance from the medical team.
To maintain Consultant diaries as required.
To open post and action accordingly.
Providing a first point of contact (face to face, telephone & email) for patients, colleagues and other health care professionals.
Process referrals accordingly.
Updating and inputting of patient information on to the appropriate systems and spreadsheets.
Scanning documents as required to patient records.
Collating information and documents for reporting purposes
To be able to organise daily workload and prioritise tasks to meet timescales & deadlines.
Completing necessary actions required from correspondence and any requests received.
And any other work as defined in the job description.
There will be an audio-typing & medical terminology test; and speed/accuracy test.
