Paediatric Float Ward ClerkNHS

Job summary

We are looking to recruit a full-time float Ward Clerk (37.5 Hours p/w - Monday to Friday. 08:00 - 16:00 TBC) on a fixed-term contract of 12 months. The role of the Float Ward Clerk is vital to the BRHC as you will play an important role in ensuring high standards of administrative governance on a variety of our busy inpatient wards.

Responsibilities will include acting as the patient's first point of contact on the ward(s), greeting and signposting patients and relatives, processing patients using CareFlow, liaising with colleagues to facilitate a smooth and timely stay with the hospital, and sending out patient information.

To liaise with patients, clinical staff, GPs and Trust support staff in person, via telephone and email as and when necessary.

Main duties of the job

• To show a caring and professional approach towards patients and visitors when carrying out all duties.
• Escalate patient queries, capacity problems and general issues to the role's line manager or relevant clinical staff as appropriate.
• To check and update patient details on arrival to the hospital, retrieving data from a number of internal and external sources to ensure real time patient flow data is kept across the Trust.
• Be responsible for the accurate entry of data to computerised databases, using all computer systems relevant to the role.
