Are you a clinical pharmacist with an interest in digital healthcare, electronic prescribing and service improvement?

Southmead Hospital Operational Unit (SHOU), part of Bristol NHS Foundation Trust, has recently implemented an Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration (EPMA) system moving into the maintenance and optimisation stage of our journey.

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic pharmacist to join our Pharmacy EPMA team and support the ongoing development, implementation and optimisation of our EPMA system. This is an exciting opportunity to combine clinical pharmacy practice with digital transformation, helping to improve patient safety and medicines management across the Trust.

About the role

As a Specialist EPMA Pharmacist, you will work closely with the Lead EPMA Pharmacist, Pharmacy colleagues, Digital Services teams and clinical staff to support the delivery of EPMA and other medicines-related digital initiatives. You will contribute to system development, testing, training and optimisation, while using your clinical expertise to improve workflows, enhance patient safety and support service improvement. The role also includes a clinical pharmacy component, ensuring you maintain and develop your clinical skills alongside digital responsibilities.

Main responsibilities

• Support the development, implementation and maintenance of the SHOU's EPMA system.
• Contribute to digital transformation projects and medicines-related IT initiatives
• Analyse, test and improve digital prescribing workflows and processes.
• Deliver EPMA training and support to pharmacy, nursing and medical staff.
• Work collaboratively with clinicians, Digital Services teams and system suppliers to deliver safe and effective change.
• Provide specialist advice on medicines, prescribing systems and patient safety.
• Support project management, system testing and implementation activities.
• Contribute to service development, quality improvement and innovation.
• Support the development and training of pharmacy staff and trainees.
• Maintain a clinical pharmacy role and contribute to direct patient care.
