Job summary

We are looking to recruit Salaried GPs to join our friendly, highly supportive inner-city GP training practice.

We have designed these roles around sustainable general practice and giving clinicians the time and support to provide excellent patient care. Clinical sessions are capped at 15 consultations, with 12-minute appointments for both face-to-face and telephone consultations. There is no duty doctor requirement, home visit requests are significantly reduced by our commissioned visiting service, and every Salaried GP has their own dedicated consulting room with no hot desking.

Salary is £10,500 to £11,500 per session per annum, depending on experience.

Senior experienced GPs are available in person every day. Our Partners hold senior and portfolio roles across NHS England, forensic medicine, MFT and GMMH, providing excellent opportunities for mentoring, professional development and support with wider career interests.

Skilled Worker visa sponsorship may be considered for suitable candidates, subject to eligibility and sponsorship requirements.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidates will provide high-quality patient-centred general medical care to our diverse inner-city population, managing acute presentations, long-term conditions and ongoing health needs.

Clinical sessions are capped at 15 consultations. Both face-to-face and telephone appointments are 12 minutes, with 20-minute appointments where an interpreter is required. We actively encourage continuity of care and give GPs the opportunity to manage and follow up their own patients.

There is no duty doctor requirement. Our commissioned home visiting service significantly reduces GP home visit requests, although occasional visits may be required where clinically appropriate, particularly for palliative care patients.

Medicine management and Docman correspondence workloads are capped. Our three full-time in-house pharmacists provide medication reconciliation, medication reviews and ongoing medicines support for patients and clinicians. We also use Docman AI and Lexacom Echo to support efficient administration.

Senior GPs are available in person every day for clinical advice, case discussion and mentoring, with coffee time debrief after every morning session.

About the role

We are looking to recruit enthusiastic patient-centred Salaried GPs to join our established inner city GP training practice

We are flexible regarding working patterns and are happy to discuss individual preferences with suitable candidates

Salary is ten thousand five hundred pounds to eleven thousand five hundred pounds per session per annum depending on experience

We have deliberately structured our Salaried GP roles around sustainable general practice with longer consultations capped clinical workload strong multidisciplinary support and ready access to experienced GPs

Clinical sessions and workload

• Each clinical session is capped at fifteen patient consultations
• Both face to face and telephone appointments are twelve minutes
• Twenty minute appointments are provided where an interpreter is required
• There is no duty doctor requirement for Salaried GPs
• We encourage continuity of care and provide opportunities for GPs to manage and follow up their own patients where appropriate
• The post holder will assess diagnose and manage patients presenting with acute and chronic health problems
• The role includes safe prescribing reviewing investigation results arranging appropriate follow up and referring patients to secondary care and community services where clinically appropriate
• The post holder will provide preventative care health promotion and management of long term conditions
• Accurate and contemporaneous clinical records must be maintained

Continuity of care

• We believe continuity remains an important part of good general practice
• Our Salaried GPs are encouraged to manage and follow up their own patients where appropriate allowing meaningful ongoing clinical relationships to develop
• This provides professional autonomy while ensuring senior advice remains readily available whenever required

Home visits

• The practice has a commissioned home visiting service which significantly reduces home visit requests for our GPs
• Home visits for Salaried GPs are therefore uncommon
• Occasional visits may still be required where clinically appropriate particularly for patients receiving palliative or end of life care

No duty doctor

There is no requirement for Salaried GPs to undertake the duty doctor role

Our aim is to allow clinicians to focus on their booked patients continuity of care and safe management of their own clinical workload

Dedicated consulting room

Every Salaried GP has their own dedicated consulting room

There is no hot desking

We believe having your own clinical space is an important part of feeling established and valued within the practice and supports continuity efficient working and a positive working environment

Medicines and pharmacy support

We have three full time pharmacists working in house as an integral part of the practice team

Our pharmacists undertake medication reconciliation medication reviews and provide ongoing medicines support for patients

They are readily available to support clinicians with medication related queries and contribute significantly to reducing medicines related GP workload

Medicine management workload for Salaried GPs is capped to support safe and sustainable working

Correspondence and administrative support

Docman correspondence workload is capped for Salaried GPs

The practice uses Docman AI to support the management and workflow of clinical correspondence

We also use Lexacom Echo digital dictation to support efficient preparation of referrals and clinical correspondence

These systems are supported by an experienced administrative team and our in house pharmacy team

Clinical support and mentoring

Senior experienced GPs are available in person every working day for clinical advice support and case discussion

Our GP Partners hold senior and portfolio roles across NHS England forensic medicine MFT and GMMH

This breadth of experience provides excellent opportunities for mentoring career advice and support for GPs wishing to develop clinical educational leadership management or portfolio interests

Mentoring is an important part of our practice ethos

We welcome both newly qualified and experienced GPs and support will be tailored to the needs interests and career stage of each individual

Our clinicians meet after morning surgery every day for coffee informal debriefing discussion of difficult or interesting cases and peer support

For those who wish there is also the opportunity for a game of table tennis

Multidisciplinary working

Our clinical team includes three full time GP Partners, five Salaried GPs and six GP trainees

The wider clinical team includes three full time in house pharmacists an Advanced Nurse Practitioner a Physician Associate a Practice Nurse a Nursing Associate and a Mental Health Practitioner

Our multidisciplinary model enables patients to access the most appropriate clinician and gives GPs ready access to colleagues with a range of professional expertise

Education and professional development

We are an established GP training practice and learning is part of our everyday culture

The post holder will be encouraged to participate in practice learning opportunities clinical discussions and continuing professional development

Pro rata study leave is provided

There are regular opportunities for informal case discussion peer learning and learning alongside GP trainees and the wider clinical team

We care for approximately fourteen thousand patients from a highly multicultural inner city community

The role offers exposure to the full breadth of modern general practice including complex clinical and social presentations

We frequently care for patients for whom English is not their first language

We recognise that effective communication requires appropriate time and therefore provide twenty minute appointments where an interpreter is required
