Job summary

We are looking for a friendly and organised Research Patient Services Advisorto support our Research Department. You will be responsible for receiving, assisting and directing patients, ensuring they access the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective manner, while providing high-quality administrative support to the team.

Please note that this role is offered on a fixed-term contract for 12 months.

Essential Criteria

• Customer Service Skills.
• Experience of working in a busy & multi-functional team.
• Call centre experience or equivalent.
• Good telephone manner, even when under pressure.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.

Main duties of the job

• Receiving patients and consulting with members of the practice team.
• Set up patient mailouts and follow up on research study expressions of interest.
• Keeping the reception area, notice-boards and leaflet dispensers tidy and free from obstructions and clutter. Prepare and maintain study worksheets for each study.
• Process appointment requests from patients for on the day and future appointments by telephone and in person. Including reminder text, email, calls prior to patient appointments.
• Respond to study requests, using the team diary to organise monitoring appointments.

Facilitate effective communication when receiving, assisting and directing patients, ensuring the patient accesses the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way.

Provide general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.

Involvement in Research is a part of the NHS Constitution and we want to run high quality, safe, effective and relevant studies for our patients to participate in. This may be cutting edge clinical trials offering new treatments not yet available on the NHS through the Lakeside Research Unit for studies on long-term conditions where we use licensed medications which are not yet available locally.
