Job summary

We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Practice Nurse to join our friendly and supportive nursing team at Christchurch Medical Practice.

The successful candidate will play an important role in delivering high-quality nursing care to our patient population, supporting health promotion, disease prevention, screening programmes and long-term condition management. Working alongside GPs and the wider multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence-based care, contribute to quality improvement initiatives and support the delivery of excellent patient outcomes.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced nurse looking to develop their skills within a progressive primary care environment.

Main duties of the job

• Delivering assessment, screening, treatment services and health promotion advice.
• Undertaking vaccinations, immunisations and injections in accordance with national guidance and local policy.
• Performing venepuncture, specimen collection, ECGs, ambulatory blood pressure monitoring, FeNo and other diagnostic procedures within scope of practice.
• Supporting patients with long-term conditions such as asthma, COPD and or diabetes.
• Providing wound care, leg ulcer management and compression therapy following appropriate training and competency assessment.
• Undertaking cervical screening and supporting sexual health and contraception services where competent to do so.
• Assisting GPs with minor surgery and other clinical procedures.
• Promoting self-care and providing lifestyle advice, including smoking cessation and health improvement interventions.
• Maintaining accurate clinical records and ensuring compliance with NMC standards, practice policies and national guidelines.
• Supporting infection prevention and control, safeguarding responsibilities and health and safety requirements.
• Contributing to Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) delivery and service development initiatives.
