Job summary

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and dedicated Practice Nurse to join our friendly and supportive team at Christchurch Medical Practice on a 12-month fixed-term maternity cover contract, working 20 hours per week.

The successful candidate will provide high-quality, patient-centred nursing care across a range of treatment room services, including immunisations, cervical screening ( optional), wound care, health promotion, chronic disease management and preventative healthcare. Working closely with GPs and the wider multidisciplinary team, you will play a key role in delivering safe, effective and compassionate care to our patient population.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced nurse who enjoys working in a busy primary care setting and is committed to continually developing their clinical knowledge and skills while contributing to excellent patient outcomes.

Main duties of the job

• Delivering assessment, screening, treatment services and health promotion advice.
• Undertaking vaccinations, immunisations and injections in accordance with national guidance and local policy.
• Performing venepuncture, specimen collection, ECGs, ambulatory blood pressure monitoring, FeNo and other diagnostic procedures within scope of practice.
• Supporting patients with long-term conditions such as asthma, COPD and or diabetes.
• Providing wound care, leg ulcer management and compression therapy following appropriate training and competency assessment.
• Undertaking cervical screening and supporting sexual health and contraception services where competent to do so.
• Assisting GPs with minor surgery and other clinical procedures.
• Promoting self-care and providing lifestyle advice, including smoking cessation and health improvement interventions.
• Maintaining accurate clinical records and ensuring compliance with NMC standards, practice policies and national guidelines.
• Supporting infection prevention and control, safeguarding responsibilities and health and safety requirements.
• Contributing to Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) delivery and service development initiatives.
