The Role

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Business Support Officer to join the Safeguarding Adults Board. The Safeguarding Adults Board are a statutory multi-agency partnership whose remit is to lead adult safeguarding arrangements across North Somerset and to oversee and coordinate the effectiveness of the safeguarding work of our member organisations and partner agencies. The NSSAB are seeking a highly organised and enthusiastic individual who will help develop the administrative functions within the board. The successful candidate will work closely with the NSSAB Manager to ensure all administrative tasks and board operations are maintained to a high standard.  

 

In this role, you will: work as a member of the NSSAB providing practical, business, and administrative support to the Board Manager and Independent Chair. The postholder is also required to provide business and administrative support to the Multi-Agency Risk Management Co-ordinator as required.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Enabling the ongoing operation of the NSSAB by delivering effective business support.
  • Organising meetings for the NSSAB. Setting the annual diary for the SAB and Subgroups, booking venues, sending invites, co-ordinating agendas and supporting papers, recording minutes and actions. 
  • Administrative support for Safeguarding Adult Reviews, helping the process to run smoothly and in line with policy.
  • Monitor the NSSAB Outlook inboxes, responding to requests for information, enquiries, concerns and complaints from individuals and organisations.  
  • General office duties, i.e. setting up and managing spreadsheets, formatting documents and maintaining folders to meet NSSAB requirements.

 

Work Style

However, please note that during the induction period, it may be necessary to spend more time in the office to support your learning and development. We are flexible and open to discussions about your preferred working style, and if you wish to be in the office more frequently, this can be negotiated.

 

This role falls into the category of Flexible Worker which means you can expect to work in the following way:

 

  • 1-2 days in the office
  • Works both from home and the office, depending on the task at hand.
  • Training is provided to help balance work-life and manage time effectively, with an emphasis on communication for team touchpoints and planning in-office days for collaboration.

 

 

About You

We are looking for an individual who is passionate about adult safeguarding, and who possesses the following skills and experience:

 

Essential Criteria:

  • GCSE grade C English Language and Mathematics (or recognised equivalent). 
  • High standard of organisational, administrative and communication skills.  
  • Ability to work as part of a multi-agency partnership. Previous experience of working with people from other teams and organisations and have a good understanding of various systems and work practices.  
  • Experience of coordinating schedules, agendas and minutes for complex and large meetings. 

 

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience of working within a safeguarding adults context.
  • Experience of contributing to new systems, processes and procedures.
