Job summary

Working in the People function is a rewarding experience helping support colleagues to deliver excellent patient care. This is done through expert people management skills in operational HR ensuring support is applied to both staff and managers.

Your expertise in HR matters means that you are cognisant of employment law and best practice guidance. You will work independently ensuring policies are applied effectively and guiding teams to be the best they can be.

Main duties of the job

You will be able to work independently advising on complex cases having undertaken your CIPD or having appropriate levels of experience.

You will actively coach managers on a daily basis to ensure they support their teams in all HR related matters, providing expert advice

You will be the point of contact for HR advice working in partnership with our Trade Union colleagues on all matters relating to Organisational Change, recruitment, employee relations, performance management, career planning and case management.

Job description

To ensure the provision of a comprehensive operational People service, including providing advice and support to managers, staff, staff side representatives on the full range of employee and employment relation matters, including;Advising and supporting managers in organisational change, ensuring an employee centric supportive approach to change is adopted and that Trust objectives are achieved within the agreed timescales.Advise on terms and conditions of employment, national legislation and policies and proceduresProvide support and advice to managers on complex cases such as, grievance, disciplinary, performance, absence and associated issues ensuring an employee centric approach is maintained whilst adhering to policies and principlesTo develop the People capabilities of managers and supervisory staff through the provision of appropriate guidance and training both in the effective implementation of Trust employment policies and ensuring every management intervention is employee focused.To liaise with trade unions to ensure that effective employee relations are maintained throughout the Trust.

About us

We operatefrom three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, andUlverstonCommunity Health Centre.

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies,daycase and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
