Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated band 4 Community Nurse Associate to join the Furness District nursing RELIEF team on a fixed term contract of 30 hours per week to cover maternity leave. The successful applicant will be committed to working closely with health and social care colleagues to provide high quality care to patients with a wide range of medical conditions in the community setting. The role requires excellent communication skills as you will be undertaking complex nursing assessments and developing and delivering programs of care for patients and carers. The district nurses work a 24hr service and regular weekends, bank holidays, evening shifts and l nights will be part of your rota. You will need to work collaboratively with other professionals, voluntary sector and informal carers to promote excellent care to patients in their own homes and community setting. We are very patient focused and staff development is high on our agenda. As part of our team we want to develop all staff to the highest standard.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work as a registrant within Community Services, accountable for providing evidence based, holistic nursing care of patients. The service covers a 24 hour period 365 days a year. It is the expectation of this post that the post holder will work weekends, bank holidays, evenings and night shifts as required.

About us

We operatefrom three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, andUlverstonCommunity Health Centre.

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies,daycase and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
