We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Assistant Operational Manager to support the leadership and day-to-day management of our Short-Term Assessment and Reablement Services, Mobile Response Service, and HMP Parc provision.

About the Role
As Assistant Operational Manager, you will work closely with the Registered Manager to ensure the effective delivery of high-quality services that meet regulatory requirements and organisational standards. You will play a key role in supporting staff, managing operational performance, maintaining compliance, and driving continuous improvement.
You will also deputise for the Registered Manager when required, providing leadership and ensuring service continuity, regulatory compliance, and effective risk management.
Key Responsibilities
Support the delivery of Short-Term Assessment and Reablement Services through effective referral management, assessment processes, and outcome-focused interventions.
Champion person-centred and strengths-based approaches that promote independence, dignity, choice, and wellbeing.
Provide leadership and support to teams, fostering a positive, accountable, and high-performing culture.
Oversee recruitment, induction, supervision, training, and workforce development in line with Social Care Wales requirements.
Support rota planning, workforce capacity management, and absence management processes.
Monitor compliance with the Social Services and Wellbeing (Wales) Act and RISCA requirements through audits, quality assurance activity, and service reviews.
Lead safeguarding, risk management, health and safety, and incident management processes.
Support operational functions including fleet coordination and electronic scheduling systems (CM2000).
Develop effective partnerships with health professionals, social care colleagues, and external agencies to support integrated service delivery.
Contribute to hospital discharge pathways, admission prevention initiatives, and multi-agency working.
Analyse performance data, monitor outcomes, and identify opportunities for service improvement and innovation.
Represent the service at meetings, forums, inspections, and reviews as required.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
Has experience within health and social care services, ideally in a leadership or supervisory position.
Demonstrates strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
Has a sound understanding of safeguarding, risk management, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance.
Is committed to delivering excellent person-centred care and support.
Can effectively manage competing priorities within a fast-paced operational environment.
Has experience of workforce management, performance monitoring, and staff development.
Is confident working collaboratively with a range of professionals and partner organisations.
Is committed to continuous professional development and maintaining relevant registration with Social Care Wales.
