An excellent opportunity has arisen within our busy Cardiac Diagnostics Department for a Band 3 Cardiac Diagnostic Technician.

We are looking for a caring, conscientious and motivated individual to join our team and support the delivery of a high-quality cardiac diagnostic service. The successful applicant will perform routine and urgent 12-lead ECGs, fit and remove ambulatory ECG and blood pressure monitors, and support cardiac diagnostic clinics across the Trust.

You will work with a diverse range of patients, using excellent communication skills to explain investigations, provide reassurance and maintain dignity and confidentiality at all times. You will also support senior cardiac physiology staff, assist with echocardiography clinics, maintain diagnostic equipment and contribute to the smooth running of the department.

Previous experience working with the public is essential, with healthcare or patient-facing experience desirable. The successful candidate will be supported through in-house training and will be expected to develop knowledge of basic cardiac rhythms and work towards the SCST Certificate in Electrocardiography.

Main duties of the job

• To provide a timely and high-quality cardiac diagnostic service, performing routine and urgent investigations including 12-lead ECGs.
• To fit and remove ambulatory ECG, blood pressure monitors and event recorders for both inpatients and outpatients.
• To obtain accurate diagnostic results across a diverse range of patients, maintaining dignity, confidentiality and a patient-centred approach at all times.
• To work in accordance with Trust policies, procedures and guidance from the Society for Cardiological Science and Technology (SCST).
• To support senior cardiac physiology and echocardiography staff in the delivery of diagnostic services.
