We are seeking a Clinical Lead for a 9-month secondment role within the Integrated Neurodevelopmental Team in Greenwich. The postholder will provide senior clinical leadership, supervision and line management, supporting safe, high-quality neurodevelopmental assessment and related interventions for children, young people and their families.

The role will support effective case management, demand and capacity oversight, risk management, service improvement, audit and policy development.

The postholder will work closely with the Operational Manager and act as a key clinical link with outsourced assessment provider, helping to address clinical concerns and maintain safe, coordinated pathways.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will undertake and oversee specialist neurodevelopmental assessments, using a range of clinical information, standardised tools, observations, interviews and professional judgement to support formulation, diagnosis and care planning.

They will provide specialist advice, consultation and supervision to clinicians within the service and wider pathway, including guidance on ASD diagnostic assessment, complex presentations, psychologically informed practice and clinical risk.

The role will include responsibility for staff supervision, trainee support, appraisal input and professional development. The postholder will also contribute to recruitment, rota planning, clinical record keeping, digital systems, data reporting and the effective use of resources.

They will support service governance through audit, research, quality improvement, policy development and the monitoring of clinical standards, ensuring practice remains evidence-based, NICE compliant and aligned with Trust policies.

Job description

The postholder will carry out complex clinical assessments, develop evidence-based formulations and support decisions about diagnosis, treatment, management and discharge for children and young people with neurodevelopmental difficulties.

They will supervise and support clinical staff, provide training across the children and young peoples pathway, and promote consistent use of agreed assessment tools, clinical processes and documentation standards.

The postholder will contribute to the development and evaluation of service processes, including case management, governance, audit, quality improvement and digital ways of working. They will be expected to manage competing clinical, supervisory and operational demands while maintaining high professional standards and a reflective, evidence-based approach to care.
