Job summary

As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Director of Finance and Corporate Services will provide strategic leadership across finance, corporate services and organisational infrastructure.

The postholder will lead the organisations finance function and corporate services portfolio, encompassing finance, corporate IT infrastructure, estates and facilities, procurement, insurance, business continuity, organisational risk management and other corporate support services that enable effective service delivery and organisational resilience.

The Director will lead the organisations finance function and corporate IT infrastructure, ensuring we have secure, resilient and effective systems that support service delivery and future growth. Working closely with the Director of Digital and Innovation, the Director will ensure our technology infrastructure is secure, reliable and fir for the future, enabling innovation whilst maintaining strong governance, cyber security and business continuity arrangements.

The postholder will provide professional advice to the CEO, Senior Leadership Team and Board of Trustees on financial strategy, investment decisions, organisational risks and opportunities.

Main duties of the job

Strategic Leadership

Contribute to organisational strategy as part of the Senior Leadership Team.

Provide strategic financial advice and challenge to the CEO, Trustees and Senior Leaders.

Lead long-term financial planning and promotefinancial accountability, sustainability and value for money.

Financial Leadership and Management

Lead budgeting, forecasting,management accounts, financial controls, cashflow and statutory reporting.

Ensure compliance, oversee annual accounts and audit, and provide financial modelling for tenders, services and investment decisions.

Commercial and Contractual Management

Provide financial leadership on contracts, tenders and commissioning opportunities.

Assess financial viability, strengthen service sustainability and identify inefficiencies, partnerships and growth opportunities.

Corporate IT Infrastructure and Cyber Security

Oversee secure, resilient IT infrastructure, external providers, cyber security, Microsoft 365, business continuity and data protection compliance.

Corporate Services and Risk Management

Oversee procurement, insurance, business continuity and corporate services, ensuring effective risk management, assurance and protection of organisational assets.

Leadership and People Management

Lead and develop a high-performing Finance and Corporate Services team, promoting accountability, collaboration, professional development and inclusion.

Provide strategic oversight of estates, leases, property, insurance and premises resilience

• Lead financial modelling and business case development for new services, tenders, partnerships and strategic investments.
• Ensure effective stewardship of restricted funds, grants and contract income.
• Maintain effective cashflow management and treasury oversight.
• Ensure all statutory financial requirements are met, including compliance with Charity SORP, Charity Commission, Companies House and HMRC requirements.
• Lead the preparation of annual accounts and manage external audit arrangements.
• Develop and maintain robust financial policies, procedures and internal controls.
• Ensure procurement activities are compliant, proportionate and achieve value for money.
• Provide financial leadership on contract negotiations, commissioning opportunities and tender submissions.
• Evaluate the financial viability of new opportunities and support investment decisions.
• Support directors and senior managers to understand service performance, contract delivery and financial sustainability.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, maximise resources and strengthen organisational resilience.
• Contribute to the development of strategic partnerships and growth opportunities.
• Provide executive oversight of our corporate IT infrastructure and technology estate.
• Ensure the organisation maintains reliable, secure and resilient IT systems that support operational delivery.
• Lead the management of external IT providers, contracts and service level agreements.
• Oversee cyber security arrangements and ensure appropriate safeguards are in place to protect systems, data and organisational assets.
• Ensure effective management of hardware, networks, Microsoft 365, telephony, connectivity and core infrastructure.
• Maintain oversight of technology asset management, licensing and lifecycle planning.
• Lead business continuity and disaster recovery arrangements relating to technology and critical systems.
• Ensure appropriate compliance with information security, GDPR and data protection requirements.
• Work in partnership with the Director of Digital and Innovation to ensure infrastructure and security arrangements support organisational innovation, transformation and future technology requirements.
• Lead and oversee corporate services functions within the portfolio, including corporate IT infrastructure, procurement, insurance, business continuity, property and lease management, and related organisational support services.
• Contribute to organisational risk management and assurance processes, working closely with Assistant Director for Governance, Risk and Assurance.
• Ensure financial and infrastructure risks are appropriately identified, monitored and mitigated.
• Support the Board and relevant committees through high quality reporting and assurance.
• Lead on insurance arrangements and organisational financial risk management.
• Ensure effective systems are in place to protect organisational assets and resources.
• Lead, develop and inspire a high performing Finance and Corporate Services team.
• Create a positive culture focused on accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.
• Ensure effective workforce planning, succession planning and professional development across the team.
• Build strong relationships with colleagues at all levels and provide coaching and support where required.

• Provide strategic oversight of our estate, ensuring that buildings, offices and physical assets are fit for purpose, cost effective and support organisational objectives.
• Lead the development and implementation of the organisations estates strategy, ensuring property requirements align with current and future service needs.
• Oversee lease management, property acquisitions, disposals and landlord relationships where applicable.
• Ensure appropriate insurance arrangements are in place to protect the organisations buildings, assets and business operations, and oversee the management of insurance claims where required.
• Support business continuity planning by ensuring that premises and physical infrastructure are resilient and capable of supporting service delivery during disruption.
• Work closely with the Directors of Operations and the Assistant Director of Governance, Risk and Assurance to ensure that estates management supports organisational wellbeing, accessibility, legal compliance and operational effectiveness.
