Job summary

Join our friendly and dedicated Renal Team as a Ward-Based Housekeeper. This is a rewarding role where you will make a real difference to patients receiving specialist renal care, helping to create a clean, safe, welcoming environment for patients, visitors and staff.

Working across Langley Ward and supporting the Acute Renal Service, you will be an important member of the multidisciplinary team. Your role will include maintaining high standards of cleanliness, supporting infection prevention measures, managing stock levels, assisting with meal services, and ensuring ward areas remain organised and patient-focused. No two days are the same, and your contribution will play a key part in delivering excellent patient care.

Main duties of the job

As a Ward-Based Housekeeper, you will play a vital role in supporting the delivery of safe, high-quality care for patients receiving renal treatment on Langley Ward and within the Acute Renal Service. You will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe and welcoming environment, supporting infection prevention and control standards, ensuring ward areas are organised and well stocked, assisting with meal and beverage services, and helping create a positive experience for patients and visitors.

We are looking for someone who is reliable, organised, takes pride in their work and enjoys working as part of a busy multidisciplinary team. You will need good communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while recognising when to seek support.

Typical decisions you will make include:o Prioritising cleaning and housekeeping tasks throughout the day to ensure patient areas remain safe, hygienic and welcoming.o Identifying when stock levels of essential supplies are running low and taking appropriate action to replenish or escalate shortages.o Recognising environmental concerns such as spillages, hazards, equipment issues or infection control risks and deciding when immediate action or escalation is required.
