Job summary
To support Children and Young People with learning disabilities and or Autism presenting with complex mental and/or physical health needs, including behaviours considered challenging or those with additional communication, psychological or emotional problems.
Main duties of the job
To support Children and Young People with learning disabilities and or Autism presenting with complex mental and/or physical health needs, including behaviours considered challenging or those with additional communication, psychological or emotional problems.
- To be allocated and manage own case load effectively under the supervision of qualified staff.
- To complete therapeutic assessments of Children and Young People using structured observation and assessment tools under the supervision and guidance of the registered professional.
- To assist qualified members of the team in the development of interventions which are based on assessment outcome and the principles of the relevant professional groups.
- Provide both direct and indirect intensive intervention, advice and support. To monitor and review interventions providing timely and concise feedback to qualified members of the team.
- Work alone with clients/Parents/Carers/Families/other agencies as required following appropriate preparation and liaison with qualified members of the relevant team.

Job description
The Trust comprises an inner city, culturally and ethnically diverse population with the Learning Disabilities Intensive Support Team covering the Black Country area. The service is provided in a variety of settings, including day services, colleges, respite care settings, clients homes, the assessment and treatment and step down units. There may be occasions where you will be required to work at other team locations at the managers discretion/request.2. The post holder will effectively communicate with people in the form and manner that is consistent with their level of understanding culture, background and preferred ways of communicating.3. To recognise when to and use effective personal judgement in seeking advice from qualified members of the team.4. To maintain up to date and clear client records and case notes in line with BCHFT polices5. To be actively involved in the collection of appropriate data and statistics.6. To maintain clear and contemporaneous records of all case work, using approved electronic and non-electronic recording systems.7. To work independently on a day to day basis, with work supervised, managed and determined at regular intervals by qualified team members.8. Adheres to the standards in place under the pillars of clinical governance, including audit, risk and evaluation.9. Meets personal development including mandatory training as required by the Trust.10. Contributes to and participates in the ongoing development of the MDT.11. Attend and provide input at MDT meetings.12. May be required to attend multi-disciplinary meetings within the Health Economy and external multi agency meetings, at the request of qualified team, members.13. To assist qualified members of the team in identifying the training needs of others.14. To plan content of training (in liaison with qualified members of the team).15. Carries out administrative activity associated with client care, to assist qualified staff.19. Carries out administration duties to support administration processes such as making and cancelling appointments, making and receiving telephone calls, dealing with mail, filing and photocopying, in order to ensure an efficient and cost-effective support service.
