We are seeking a proactive and organised Senior Finance and Resources Assistant to join the Maths Finance Team. This role is central to the smooth delivery of financial operations across the department, providing advice and support on purchasing, expenses, contracts, reporting and financial compliance.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will coordinate day-to-day finance activities, support departmental staff with financial queries, and help ensure that transactions are processed accurately and in line with University policies and regulations. You will also provide oversight and support to the Finance and Resources Assistant.

Key responsibilities include:

Supporting purchasing, expenses, billing, non-staff payroll and contract processes.

Promoting compliance with financial regulations and procedures.

Assisting with quarterly and annual financial reporting.

Supporting the financial administration of studentships, internships and non-research projects.

Maintaining effective financial controls and processes.

Supporting the monitoring of research projects in the department.

Building positive relationships with academic, professional services and external stakeholders.

About You

You will have:

AAT, Part 1 CIMA or equivalent financial qualification, with a commitment to professional development.

Substantial experience using finance systems such as SAP, OPeRA, Concur or similar.

Strong communication and customer service skills.

Advanced Excel and IT skills.

Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.

The ability to manage competing priorities and work independently.

Experience of staff supervision and/or research finance would be an advantage.
