Environmental Education and Engagement Specialist (60% FTE)University

Applications are invited for a fixed-term, 0.6 FTE Environmental Education and Engagement Specialist role working in the School of Environmental and Natural Sciences at Bangor University. The post is funded by NERC.

Duties will include planning, coordinating and delivering environmental science education, engagement and outreach activities, primarily in North Wales, working closely with schools, educators, communities and partner organisations. A key aspect of the role will be supporting the co-development and delivery of professional development opportunities, resources and support for teachers, helping to strengthen confidence and capacity for environmental science education.

Candidates are expected to hold an undergraduate degree in education, environmental science, geography, sustainability, science communication, social sciences or another relevant discipline, or to have equivalent professional qualification or equivalent relevant experience. Experience of working with schools, teachers, educational programmes or educational outreach initiatives and experience of designing, developing and delivering educational activities, resources, training or professional development opportunities for educators is essential.

The successful candidate will be expected to commence 1st January 2027, and the role is available to for a period of 19 months.

This role will be located on campus in Bangor. Through our Dynamic Working framework, there will also be the option to spend time working remotely (although remaining in the UK) to support work life balance, which will be discussed further with candidates at interview.
