Teaching and Learning Support Assistant - Marston Green Junior SchoolCouncil

This role will involve both supporting EHCP/SEND pupils in the classroom and providing direct support for our SEND/EHCP pupils through interventions and bespoke provision. At Marston Green Junior School we run a ‘team around the child’ model. This means that we rotate our support staff across all our high tariff EHCP pupils so our support staff will work with a variety of EHCP pupils across the day. Therefore, all our support staff are required to have a good understanding of working with pupils with a diagnosis of ASD, ADHD, PDA and SEMH amongst other needs.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, committed Teaching & Learning Support Assistant to join our successful school and we require applicants who:

• can demonstrate successful experience in a Teaching & Learning Support Assistant role, including direct experience of working with pupils with additional needs such as Autism, ADHD and/or SEMH needs.
• have a clear understanding of fulfilling the requirements of an individual pupil’s Education and Health Care Plan.
• is able to respond directly to our children’s needs and provide them with the relevant support both academically and pastorally.
• is able to establish positive relationships when supporting pupils with English and Mathematical skills, promoting positive behaviour and helping develop pupil’s social, emotional and mental health needs.
• has excellent oral, written and mathematical skills and is able to communicate effectively with pupils, staff and parents.
• demonstrates commitment to ensuring that pupils of all abilities achieve their full potential, especially those with additional educational needs.
• has high expectations and a commitment to raising standards.
• has the ability to use initiative as well as being a good team member.
• demonstrates the knowledge of a range of strategies to engage pupils in their learning.
• Desire to follow Nurture UK Principles.
