• Summer Hours – 42 hours per week, Monday to Friday
• Winter Hours – 32 hours per week, Monday to Thursday

An opportunity has arisen for a committed and respectful individual to join our Parks & Open Spaces team as a Grave Digger.

This role is an important part of delivering sensitive and professional cemetery services to our communities and the successful candidate will undertake grave digging and interment duties in a safe, dignified and respectful manner while assisting with the ongoing maintenance and presentation of cemetery grounds and associated parks areas.

Duties will include:

• Preparing, locating and digging graves including shoring and shuttering
• Assisting with burials and interments
• Maintaining cemetery grounds including grass cutting, hedge trimming, pruning, planting, seeding and turfing
• Reinstating cemetery plots to support grounds maintenance activities
• Operating tools, machinery and horticultural equipment safely
• Assisting with emergency works including the removal of fallen trees
• Providing assistance, guidance and support sensitively to members of the public and bereaved families

The postholder may be required to work at any of the Council’s cemeteries and parks as required.
