Salary from £53,949 to £62,160 per annum inclusive with potential to progress to £69,073 pa inclusive of London allowance

This is a full-time fixed term appointment for 12 months

This role can be offered as secondment opportunity to enable existing employees to broaden their knowledge, experience and skills by transferring to a different team/department. The Marshall Institute at LSE works to improve the impact and effectiveness of private action for public benefit through research, teaching and catalysing action.

The Marshall Institute is also home to 100x Impact, the LSE-based initiative working to identify, support and scale bold ideas with the potential to transform social systems. While the Institute and 100x Impact have distinct programmes and teams, colleagues work alongside one another and operate through a shared governance structure. The Institute Manager will not be responsible for delivering 100x Impact’s programme, but will work within this integrated organisational environment and support the effective operation of the Institute as the home of both teams.

The Marshall Institute is seeking an experienced Institute Manager to provide cover for the current manager, who is going on a secondment for one year. The Institute is looking for an individual who can oversee the programmes and support the development and strategic direction of the Institute. The Institute Manager will ensure the effective operations of the Institute in terms of finances, human resources, and physical facilities. The postholder is a vital member of the Institute’s senior leadership team, working closely with and reporting to the Institute Director.

The Institute Manager has direct responsibility for the management of the administrative team, which consists of six members of staff who deliver teaching programmes, events, communications and marketing.

Candidates should have:

Proven line management experience of professional teams

Experience working closely with senior academics and stakeholders

Have proven organisational strategic development and implementation experience

Experience of managing budgets and financial reporting
