We have an exciting opportunity for a Substance Misuse Recovery Worker to join our team at HMP Lancaster Farms.

HMP Lancaster Farms is a busy Category C male prison, currently holding around 550 males, and expanding by another 200.

Practice Plus Group provides primary care and substance misuse services across the wings, clinic areas, inpatient facilities, and reception services.

Join the Recovery Team and empower those whom wish to make changes in their behaviour to promote health and well-being through recovery from drugs and alcohol. This is a crucial role within the healthcare team, making a real difference to patients, and delivering outstanding care.

Hours This is a full time role, 37.5 hours per week. Shifts are Monday - Friday, between 8am - 7pm (shifts within these times)

Salary

This position is full time, youll receive an annual salary of £29,264 - £33,510 per annum.

Main duties of the job

As our new Substance Misuse Recovery Worker, your responsibilities will vary. Some of your duties will include:

  • Manage a caseload of psychosocial patients with varying needs, including substance misuse, mental health, trauma etc
  • Work with receptions (new patients entering the prison), triaging and carrying out assessments
  • Deliver group sessions on overdose awareness, harm reduction, motivation to change, relapse prevention and wellbeing
  • Providing a programme of psychosocial interventions and comprehensive assessments, including SMART Recovery
  • Facilitate peer led group sessions
  • Provide information and advice on substance misuse, alcohol, smoking cession, blood borne viruses and safe sex practices
  • Prepare patients for release and transfer
  • Work closely with MDT professionals, including within the prison and the community, such as probation, external drug & alcohol services etc

  • Have experience within Substance misuse, ideally a prison / secure environment, and ideally within a Recovery Worker / Practitioner role
  • Have experience of working within the substance misuse multi-disciplinary framework, which includes housing, social care, health care and mental health pathways
  • Have experience of managing a caseload
  • Have a flexible approach, and excellent communication skills
